The range of series 200 has been specially designed to meet the needs of industry, and more particularly in the field of electronics, motor-car manufacture and domestic appliances. They are light, anti-magnetic, self lubricant, insulating, rust-proof and without play.

Application : Single coupling
These couplings have an angular displacement of 45° maximum. A single coupling will not operate properly if the two spindles are not correctly aligned laterally, ie. the central axes of the two spindles must cross each other at the center of the coupling. A single coupling cannot trnasmit a uniform movement. The control spindle will speed up and slow down twice per revolution as compared yo once for the spindle being controlled. This cyclic variation increases proportionally with the control angle.

Application : double coupling

A double coupling can transmit all rotating movement with an angular displacement of up to 90°. It will also compensate for lateral misalignment. If a greater degree of angular displacement is required, two single couplings should be used.

Constant Angular Transmission

One double coupling, or two single couplings, correctly aligned, will transmit automatically a uniform movement if angles are equal. Rotation in excess of 5000 RPM can be transmitted satisfactorily providing the working angle is less than 10° and the load is not too heavy so that the maximum torsion angle is not exceeded. The working angle, the load and the speed, are the three factors which can cause heating in the coupling. Excessive heating can soften and twist the thermo-plastic material of the coupling, and it is important that the graphic values indicated on this page should not be exceeded
Torsion Distorsion

Plastic couplings are distorded by the torque applied. The curves show distorsion in respect of applied torque at 20°C HR 50%.With continuous operation a distorsion of 3° max is permissible. With intermittent operation a distorsion of 7° max is permissible. These apply for single couplings. With double couplings the distorsion is doubled; Max. Ambient is 85°C.

Angular displacements and speeds
Limits shown must be observed to avoid excessive heat; Tests have been carried out with dry couplings (without lubrification) with full torque (3° of distorsion). Better performances are achieved when using silicone lubrification.

Note :
Type 210 Universal couplings are fixed on spindles by a nickel-plated brass collet-nut. Type 220 are fixed on spindles by means of nickel-plated brass rings.A side pin is recommended for a perfect grip. Type 230 are fixed on spindles by means of nickel-plated brass rings with grup-screws.
